Travel

We are blessed to have 3 wonderful children. Our oldest has been playing baseball since he was 8 years old and, not to sound TOO braggy, he is really good at it. He is a sophmore in high school & has been playing with the varsity team for 2 years now. For this summer he made a team that is traveling around Florida. We were hoping to get an RV to cut the costs of these trips down but weren't able to do that SO, here we go hotel hopping :). I have to say, I'm really excited about this time! Now, normally traveling doesn't bring out the best in everyone since we are all so different but I'm really looking forward to this. The level of play will be awesome & honestly? I don't have ANY problem having someone come in and clean our room!!

One of my problems with traveling though is making sure I keep our eating healthy & continue my exercise regimen which truth be told, I'm told is pretty intense. So, here are a couple tips I can come up with off the top of my head.

Bring healthy snacks (i.e. nuts, dried fruit (in moderation, high sugar content), rice cakes w/nut butter, veggies).

Order a salad and eat that first.

Since you may not have a fridge for leftovers, make sure you order the lunch portion & not dinner. This is usually just 1/2 the dinner portion and honestly all you will need after that salad!!

WATER - WATER - WATER.

Pretend the elevator is OUT OF ORDER. Take the stairs any time you are able to.

Park far away from wherever you are going so you can walk.

Stick a couple handweights into your overnight bag and use them. (haha - I did this one time and felt sorry for the guy carrying our bags. I took 26lbs worth!!)

I think that is good for now. Do you have something you do that helps with your food choices & exercise while you travel? Let me know!

Oh - did I mention to drink lots of water?? heehee

Don't forget!

Just a quicky - don't forget as this weather gets warmer to drink more water. The more we sweat the more we need to drink. Our bodies need this! Don't deprive yourself of this. Remember, if you don't care for plain water add a splash of lemon or lime juice. You will really be glad you did!!

Filling out (eek!)

So lately I have noticed clothes getting snugger. Ok, this is NOT cool. I watch what I eat & exercise for a reason. I got to talking with a friend of mine and while I do get that muscle weighs more than fat (this is why I do NOT depend on the scale AT ALL) I wasn't thinking about muscle taking a different shape than the fat does. Which would be why certain clothes aren't fitting the same anymore. Boy oh boy what this can do to your head if you let it!

Lately I have taken to doing more cardio. I love the feeling I get when I'm pushing myself to go further than the last time I ran or to do a workout that I KNOW will get my heart going faster than yesterdays. Yeah, I do add some weights in there once in a while but I had to take too long off from the cardio that I feel like I just need to catch up to what I have missed. My younger son and I have taken a different route now when we run/bike and he is much happier with it. The other route we took, he felt, had too many little hills. Hey, he is on wheels! What is he complaining about right? heehee. I'm thinking if I need to have my "bodyguard" then I will do what I can to make him happy.

Well, I hope you have had some time to get out and enjoy the weather. If it's raining by you, well, that's not an excuse not to get that heart pumping. Get up and get moving! Lunge across your living room, do some squats during commercial breaks from your favorite show. You can do it!!

Marriage

After seeing some clips from the Royal Wedding of Prince William & Kate it really made me do some thinking & remembering 18 years ago May 8th.

I couldn't imagine having my wedding day broadcast all over the world for everyone to see & critique. Really!! The things that happened. The bestman was a little green from the rehearsal dinner/party the night before. The maid of honor had a scary moment when she realized she didn't have the grooms ring (thankfully just left out in the limo!). The funniest thing that I can think of right now about the whole thing? As we were waiting for the moment to start the procession my attendants (that sounds so fancy) were really sweating. My lovely maid of honor decided she didn't want sweat stains on her dress so she put panty liners under her arms inside the dress!! Ok, when I think of that it just makes me giggle & I realize it helped to calm my nerves a bit that morning.

I think though now about the way my groom looked at me as I was walking down the aisle. I think about how his father read the readings for us during this special time. As he is now in heaven with Jesus, it's even more special. So many things that made our day perfect. May not have been perfect for others who were watching but perfect for us.

I hope that Kate has special memories of their day yesterday that will stick with her for many years to come. I hope they are putting God at the center of their marriage so it will be 3 stranded rope strong. Yes there are problems & times couples grow apart. I believe though that with God being in the middle of it He will show the way we are to go and we will be stronger for it.

Happy Anniversary to my groom of 18years. I love you!! xoxo

Happy Mothers Day

16 years ago I was pregnant with our 1st son. He is now 15 and looks like a man. When did that happen? I was walking behind a woman with her 2yr old little boy the other day and listening to them. The way she was talking with him & answering the oh so many questions our little ones have. The patience was shining through with her. She was just answering everything to the best of her ability. I remember those moments with A. My first and only for 3-1/2 years. We did everything together. He baked with me, gardened with me (mostly with Daddy though), he showed me how to race matchbox cars & how to fight the bad guys as Bibleman. He showed me later when he could read his passion & craving to read God's word. He has taught me so much. Thank you A!!!

My 2nd is so different yet so much the same. He is 12 now. I look back to the times he just had to be so patient while he waited for things. We were in a season of our lives that we were in the car alot and he just learned how to keep himself occupied back there strapped into his carseat. The compassion this boy has for everything is incredible. He is sensitive to so much & feelings get hurt easily. He has taught me so much about this. How to be careful about what I say to people so I don't hurt their feelings. Thank you my sweet M!!

Finally, my 3rd. We got our little princess. She is exactly that. She is 5 and all girl. Well, mostly. She comes out of her room so often with her crown & dress up shoes on so she can be a princess. She has taught me how to play tea party & really just how to play like a child again. I don't remember that some times and I need to be taught. I always tell her "Please teach me how to play this". She does a great job at it too! Thank you Princess E!!

I haven't had a real close relationship with my mother. I love reading the stories about my friends with their mothers. Most times I get sad that I don't have those kinds of stories to share. Something I just realized though? It's not to late to start. So, Mom, I know you may not read this but I love you. I am thankful that you raised me with all that you had at the time. You did the best you could and I am thankful for that. I want to be the best daughter I can be for you and that is my prayer. I am not perfect and I will make mistakes. I am thankful that I know you will love me through those as you always have. As I look back I realize now that you have done that for me. Thank you Mom!

Happy Mothers Day!!!!!
